The former Abbey of Saint-Pierre de Flavigny, rebuilt in 719AD, houses a 4 century tradition of aniseed sweets manufacture. For 3 generations, since 1923, the Troubats family has been successfully maintaining this tradition. They use natural ingredients including natural flavours which are extracted from plants by steam or alcohol distillation. Their Anis is a hard sweet and traditionally symbolizes the happiness and fertility that families and friends wish to young married couples, like grains of rice thrown when leaving the church. Sharing a sweet that holds an aniseed in its heart is a demonstration of love. The images on the packaging are engravings and illustrations, taken from the Abbey’s archives, and designed by the successive manufacturers of Anis de l’Abbaye de Flavigny ®.
Marie Bouvero set up her confectionery brand in 2007 to indulge her passion for chocolate. She ensures that her confectionery is of high quality and uses natural products wherever possible. The packaging receives just as much attention and is very decorative. And no wonder – having graduated as a graphic artist and held Senior Artistic Director roles for cosmetic and luxury products, she expresses visually the beauty of France. Irresistible!
